Winter Solstice SHAWL Pattern Launches

Introduction

I have prepared an INTRODUCTION DOCUMENT for your convenience. This contains all the information you need before getting started on making this shawl. Tap or click here to download the document.

I used a mixture of ColourSpun 100% Pure Cotton 4 ply and DK for this project.

The Winter Solstice Shawl is the 2nd pattern in a series of Winter Solstice patterns. This release comes hot on the heels of the throw which was launched 2 weeks ago. A poncho pattern will be launched soon.

This is a written pattern supported by right and left handed video tutorials.

The stitch combinations used in this pattern are a variation of the traditional granny stitch worked in rows instead of in the round, combined with chain loops and with an added row of overlay crochet to give it some additional texture. The overlay is done in a contrasting colour which enhances the texture of the throw.

This is quite a dense pattern. To ensure a nice drape I have used bigger hook sizes than I would normally with this yarn.

This luxurious shawl is made from Pure Merino Super Wash. It is soft, warm and elegant. It has a wonderful textural drape. It also has the added benefit of being reversible. I love both sides.

Thank you to my niece, Robyn, for modelling this for us. Also thanks to my brother, Trevor, for the photographs.
