The “Cables for” Series of Patterns

Hello Neaverlanders

I have three new patterns for you.

The “Cables for” Series of patterns has been designed especially to honor my long term testers:

  • Ingrid Rosendahl
  • Kim Lategan
  • Valerie Burton

These three ladies have been with me pretty much from the start – that’s around 4 years. Their testing skills have been invaluable, and indeed crucial, to bringing you well written, and error free patterns.

Their enthusiasm is a great motivator for me. No sooner have they finished testing and they are asking for the next pattern.

So I bring you:

Please tap or click on the links above to access an INTRODUCTION DOCUMENT for each individual pattern.

All 3 patterns are for luxurious, textured throws. You have the option to make these in 4 Ply (Super Fine/Fingering #1), Double Knit (Light Worsted #3) or Aran (Heavy Worsted #4) weight yarn – this version is very heavy. Your yarn selection will determine the size of the finished throw.

The ribbed border for these throws is worked at the same time as the main body of the throws. This gives a very professional edge to the throw.

Cables may look intimidating, but they are not all that difficult to do. All 3 patterns are worked over a repeat of 12 rows. Once the pattern is established in the 1st repeat, it becomes quite easy to keep track of the pattern and the stitch counts. There is a video tutorial provided in support of the written pattern.

Video Tutorials

The written patterns are supported by both right- and left-handed video tutorials.

You will not be able to complete this project unless you have purchased the written pattern. The video tutorials are supplementary to the written pattern. The video tutorials for this pattern focus on the rows needed to establish the pattern only. Links to the unlisted You-Tube videos are available in the written pattern.

Acknowledgements

A big thank you goes to Kim Lategan, Ingrid Rosendahl and Valerie Burton for testing these patterns.

Yarn

The preferred yarn used in these pattern samples is ColourSpun Pure Merino Super Wash. ColourSpun is a South African brand, which we are justifiably very proud of for the following reasons:

  • ColourSpun yarn is created by hand; therefore, each skein is imbued with the artist’s energy and will have its own unique characteristics.
  • This extra soft, super wash yarn is mill spun and Herco treated to prevent felting and then hand dyed in our indie dye studio using an earth friendly process and dyes.
  • All the dyes used are GOTS approved and have excellent wash-fast and light-fast properties.
