Over and out!

The end of an era ......

Effective immediately I will no longer be selling my patterns through any platforms. I have closed The Neave Collection Online Store and will also be closing my Ravelry and Etsy stores. The Neave Collection web site will remain in place until 31May 2022.

PLEASE READ THE NEXT 2 PARAGRAPHS CAREFULLY!

If you have previously purchased any patterns through my online store, you will still be able to access your downloads from My Accounts/Downloads until 31 May 2022. After this date the entire web site will be retired. Please make sure you have downloaded and saved all patterns before this date.

Your Ravelry and Etsy purchases will still  be in the respective libraries.

SUBSCRIBERS NOTE!

If you have a Current Pattern Subscription, you will continue to have access to all the subscription patterns until your next subscription renewal date. I will not collect any further subscriptions from you. Please ensure that you download and save all the subscription patterns before your subscription expires.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who has supported my efforts by purchasing either a subscription or a pattern over the past 4 and a half years. Your support is greatly appreciated. I just wish there were more of you.

VIDEO TUTORIALS

I will leave these in place on YouTube. You will need the links provided in the written patterns to access the videos as these videos are unlisted.

WHY?

This decision has not been taken lightly.

Whilst there are some truly lovely people out there who do value the work that goes into designing a pattern and are happy to pay,  the majority of the crochet community has come to expect patterns for free. I’m not sure how this came about,  but it has. Designing is an expensive exercise and this expectation makes it unsustainable as a business!

Costs include:

  • Web Site Hosting
  • Computer equipment
  • Still photography equipment
  • Video equipment
  • Software
  • The yarn needed to make the samples
  • Testers time
  • My time – the most precious commodity of all

I’m 62 years of age and retired. I had hoped that this design business would help supplement my retirement. Instead, I am constantly having to invest more of my personal money into keeping this little venture going. I had hoped that The Old Wool Factory CAL and Read Along would generate enough income to fund the next year. Sadly, this did not happen. Whilst over 2,500 people registered to participate only a small percentage actually bought the complete pattern. I earned the grand sum of $20 ($5 from one very kind lady) via “Treat me to a Cuppa”.  It is just not worth it.

I have avoided monetizing my web site and YouTube videos. I did this so that you didn’t have to be inundated with advertising and you received all the patterns in and easy to use PDF format. I guess I am old fashioned that way.

8 months of work went into The Old Wool Factory CAL. That’s just my time. My 6 testers each invested at least 100 hours of their time. It simply does not make sense to continue under these circumstances.

Having made this decision I feel that a huge weight has lifted.

Please make sure that you have downloaded all your files as mentioned above.

For those of you still  busy on The Old Wool Factory FREE CAL – Make sure you download all the CAL parts before 4 June 2021. After that date the downloads will no longer be available. The Complete Pattern will no longer be available to purchase as the online store is now closed.

I will keep my debbie@theneavecollection.com email address until 31 May 2022. As always, I am here to help within reason. Please do read the above carefully before firing off questions.

I will retire the Facebook groups sometime in the future. I will keep you informed. They will stay as is for now.

Thanks again to everyone who has supported me over the years. I wish things could be different and I hope that you will understand just how hard it has been for me to take this decision. A special thank you to my testers. You are so very special to me.

A big thank you to Dana Biddle of ColourSpun. Your support and friendship mean the world to me.

Love & light

Debbie

I am so sorry to see such a fabulous designer leave. I purchased the entire Old Wool Factory pattern because I knew I couldn’t do a CAL but apparently signed up for both😂. I’m a bit older than you , not always tech savvy and still more like an ambitious beginner. But in the short time I’ve been crocheting I’ve learned free often means stolen or poorly written when it comes to patterns. Thank you for the beauty you have given us

    Groetjes Tallie
