Lady D Vest with Hood – New Pattern

Hello my lovely Neaverlanders

I hope you are all well and safe and surviving the new normal? What a roller coaster ride 2020 has been.

I know that I have been rather quiet, but I have been really busy designing in the background. I will be releasing 5 new patterns over the next week or so. I really hope that you will love what I have for you.

Here goes:

I have prepared a FREE INTRODUCTION document for the Lady D Vest with Hood for you. This contains all the information you need before starting to make the Lady D Vest with Hood.

This casual and versatile vest is popular with both young and not so young. It is also a unisex garment.

Worn over a long sleeved T-shirt and teamed with a pair of denim jeans, it makes a stylish statement. Ideally it should be tunic length when completed. Details on how to adjust the length have been provided in the pattern.

The braided front and underarm joins add a bit of extra flair to the finished garment.

The addition of the hood is optional.

The sample used in the written pattern and video is made with Pure Merino Super Wash 4 ply yarn. What an absolute treat it was to work in this this truly luxurious wool. This is mine forever!

Video Tutorials

The written pattern is supported by both right- and left-handed video tutorials.

You will not be able to complete this project unless you have purchased the written pattern. The video tutorials are supplementary to the written pattern. The video tutorials for this pattern focus on the rows needed to establish the pattern only. Links to the unlisted You-Tube videos are available in the written pattern.

A big thank you goes to Kim Lategan, Ingrid Rosendahl and Val Burton for testing this pattern.

Fabienne Jardim is the very talented photographer who took these great picture. Thank you Fabienne. Your editing skills are amazing – thanks for making me look 10 years younger!

You will need some basic pattern reading skills to complete this vest. Having said that, the video tutorials are structured to assist you to learn how to read my style of writing patterns.

The preferred 4 ply (#1) yarn used in this pattern sample is ColourSpun Pure Merino Super Wash. ColourSpun is a South African brand, which we are justifiably very proud of for the following reasons:

  • ColourSpun yarn is created by hand; therefore, each skein is imbued with the artist’s energy and will have its own unique characteristics.
  • This extra soft, super wash yarn is mill spun and Herco treated to prevent felting and then hand dyed in our indie dye studio using an earth friendly process and dyes.
  • All the dyes used are GOTS approved and have excellent wash-fast and light-fast properties.
