Snow-drop CAL Launches!

5 October 2017

The Snow Drop is no longer available as a free CAL. It can be obtained by subscribing to my subscription patterns for US$ 6 for 6 months or US$9 for 12 Months

it can be purchased as an individual pattern through Ravelry for US$4.99 by clicking here.

Some of the links in the article below may no longer work as the site has been restructured to accommodate the subscription service. Use this link to access the latest version of the Introduction Document.

Dear Neaverlanders

At last the Snow-drop is ready for you!

As the recent Facebook poll indicted that the majority of Neaverlanders prefer the CAL format, this is how it will be released.

The CAL will consist of 7 parts. Part 1 to be released by 12 October 2017 and then the other 6 parts weekly thereafter. You will find a full schedule of release dates in the Introduction document which is now published on my blog.

The Introduction document is a very important part of the CAL. Please ensure that you download it and go through it carefully before starting. You will find lots of important information as well as links to various videos that you may find helpful.

I have used Nurturing Fibres Eco-Fusion for this project. It is a 50% cotton/50% Bamboo blend. I love working with it. My colour of choice is Vanilla. However, you can use any colour you prefer.

I am sure that there will be questions, so here are some answers in anticipation:

Can I use materials other than those specified?

Yes, you can. However, consistent tension/gauge is very important. This is especially true if you are not using the materials as specified.

The best advice I can give is that you lay your work down after each round to ensure that it is lying flat. This is a good indicator that your tension/gauge is correct. There will be times when I will indicate that the work may be a bit wavy while working a particular section. When I specifically make mention of this, then there is no need to worry – subsequent rounds will correct the wave.

This project was designed using double knit yarn (light worsted). If you use a lighter or heavier weight yarn, the size of your throw will be different to mine. Using the materials specified, the throw measures approximately 125 x 125 cm / 49 x 49".

Can I use multiple colours?

This throw has been designed especially as a one colour piece. It is very rich in texture and I love the way the single colour highlights the different textures. However, you are most welcome to use multiple colours. I would love to see what you come up with. You will need to adjust the start and end of the rounds when you are changing colour, but otherwise the pattern will be the same.

Will there be video tutorials?

Yes, there are full video tutorials for this CAL. They will be released weekly along with the written pattern. You will have access to both a right handed and a left handed version.

Can I buy a kit?

Yes, kits are available from The Purple Orange Crochet Company. This is a shop located in Fourways, South Africa. They are happy to ship internationally, however, this can be quite expensive as South Africa is so far away from most other countries. Please use the Order Form to place any orders. Please also note that all queries relating to orders must be sent to info@purpleorangecrochet.com . Please don't direct these queries to me as I won't be able to assist you. The Order Form details shipping costs for local South African orders. Please email them if you need a quote for international shipping.

Please remember to read my Terms of Use to make sure that you use my patterns appropriately. Many, many hours of work go into producing a pattern such as this. Please respect my terms.

All that remains for now is for me to thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm. This is what feeds my creativity and makes all the long hours of work worthwhile.

Sending much love to you all wherever you may be.

Absolutely love your patterns just finished a baby blanket combination bride for my great grandson. It turned out beautiful. I will send a picture.

I am presently on row 64 and loving the videos of your thorough instructions, I had started it thinking I was just going to make a sampler of the one 16 oz ball of white I had, have now bought 2 more and need to hunt now to find the same yarn to continue. I may not get to the 109 rows and it all depends on the size it gets. It is beautiful so far and has been a fun project from my usually easy ones I make while watching TV. It was time for a challenge.. Thanks so much, Faye

Hi Debbie,

I'm interested in your snow-drop cal. Where do i find the introduction document? I've tried going into it from this page but I get a message with no file found.

That's my problem also! I did register...

The problem seems to be that this pattern is a subscription and not a free pattern...

Such exciting times! I decided I would love to make a blanket for her new little princess. It looked to be a beautiful blanket and the timing was perfect, so I set about starting it. I love the colours together it is so pretty! nea It did, however, take me a lot longer than anticipated to finish it.

Why can I not access the pattern? Where is the link, or what do I need to do to get it? I registered.... every link I click on keeps coming back to the Home Page, or the link is not available to me - access denied. Can you say "frustrated"? It shouldn't be this hard. I would like to make this beautiful blanket.

Thanks for any help!

I found the problem, finally. The problem seems to be that this pattern is a subscription and not a free pattern... For some reason I'm not connected with a subscription .
